Tech Gifts for Him

Another holiday is quickly approaching! Can you believe Valentine's Day is just around the corner? The first few weeks of 2018 are absolutely flying by! Some couples go all out for Valentine's Day and others keep it pretty quiet. My husband and I fall into the keeping it low key category. No matter how you celebrate the holiday I thought it would be a fun idea to do a post about some awesome techy gifts to get the special guy in your life. Here are my top 5 suggestions.

Note: I work in the tech field and these ideas are in no way sponsored by any of the brands. The prices listed are subject to change based on manufacturer pricing. Just my opinions on what may be fun gifts for your hubby/fiance/boyfriend or whoever!

5. Men's Fossil Smartwatch - Under $300

I love this gift for a few reasons. Most smartwatches you get from wireless carriers and phone manufacturers look bulky and seem like they would be an encumbrance. When you buy a smartwatch from a company that makes actual watches you get the classic look and design that I feel is missing with others on the market. Of course, companies like Michael Kors also make watches with built-in technology. The only real downside to getting one of these smartwatches is that they work best with Android phones. Yes, you can use them with iPhones by downloading the app Android Wear but it doesn't always work flawlessly.

4. Wireless Headphones - $70-$200

Whether your man works outside for a living, is a workout fanatic or just enjoys getting lost in some music, wireless headphones are an awesome gift! For a guy who works out I would suggest the Powerbeats3 Wireless ($200). They come in a few different colors and are awesome because they go over the ear so they are sure to stay in while running! If your man likes to immerse himself in his music at the end of the day I would suggest the some Bose noise cancelling headphones. If you do decide to go with these you may have to splurge a little ($350 and up), but our men are worth it! Right ladies?

3. GoPro - $200-$400

Our GoPro Hero5 is one of our favorite devices in our house! We seriously use it all. the. time. The picture and video quality is incredible for such a compact and portable device. It by far takes better pictures and videos than my iPhone 7 plus. There are so many attachments that you can buy for it, ranging from a tripod to a chest harness to a harness for your dog! My husband especially likes the attachments for his dirt bike. He has one for his helmet and one for his handle bars. The videos he takes while he is out riding blow my mind! We also like to use it for home videos of Grace. Since it can fit in the diaper bag without taking up any room we like to bring it with us when we venture out for the day! There is such a variety of GoPro cameras based on what you will be using it for that there is definitely a version for everyone!

2. Gaming Consoles - $100-$500

If your significant other is anything like my husband, you can't go wrong with some type of gaming console. My husband has both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and he loves to unwind with his games at the end of the day. I know there are a few new ones out like the Nintendo Switch and a few others. I like this gift for guys because it is something they can dive into and lets them release a little stress at the end of the day. If you're a lady that likes to play video games also it is also an opportunity for a little bonding time! I know every once in a blue moon I will sit down and play a few minutes with my hubby and I think it makes him happy that I'm taking an interest in his interests. This one will definitely make your man happy this February!

1. Drone - $100-$1,000

Drones are some of the coolest pieces of technology on the market right now in my opinion. I got one for my husband for Christmas and it is his new favorite 'toy'. There are so many different types available that it doesn't matter if you are a drone novice or an expert, you can find one to fit your needs. You can spend anywhere from a hundred dollars to well over a thousand. The more expensive drones usually have longer flight time and flight distance. The difference between entry level drones and advanced drones is significant. A good beginner drone is the Parrot Mambo ($180). It has an integrated camera and is fun to fly because of it's ability to do some basic tricks. If you are looking for a little bit more of an advanced drone and are willing to pay a little more money I suggest the GoPro Karma. Yes, we love GoPro but this really is an amazing drone. It is currently $200 off right now making $600! It is a steal! It is such a smooth flight and very responsive to controls. My husband is in love with it. The only downside to this is that the $600 version doesn't come with a camera. We already had the GoPro so this model worked just fine for us. If you don't have the GoPro camera already you can get this one for a bit more money and it comes with the camera. So not only do you get a drone but you also get the camera. A win, win! Two gifts in one! We have had so much fun playing around with our drone since Christmas and my husband says it is a 'must have' for all guys out there!

If you have a guy in your life that loves technology, I hope this helped you think of gift ideas for him this Valentine's Day!

See you soon, E
